Applied Photophysics Chirascan V100

The Applied Photophysics Chirascan V100 is a high-sensitivity circular dichroism (CD) spectrometer used to analyze the structural, thermodynamic, and folding properties of chiral biomolecules like proteins and nucleic acids by simultaneously measuring CD, UV/absorbance, and fluorescence signals.

• Detector type & sensitivity ceiling: it uses a highly sensitive solid-state (avalanche photodiode) detector with significantly superior measurement sensitivity across all wavelengths compared to the photomultiplier tubes used in conventional CD instruments

• Sample volume & throughput: measurements are possible with small sample amount, low-noise CD spectra can be obtained in a short time

• Pathlength/cuvette flexibility: a range of cuvettes manufactured from far-UV quartz, with compatible holders, gives flexibility to optimize sample concentration and absorbance (e.g., 0.5 mm to 10 mm pathlengths), which determines what concentration ranges and path lengths are practical for a given sample

• Simultaneous multi-signal acquisition: perform CD, UV/absorbance, and fluorescence simultaneously, with accurate normalization from simultaneous measurement of absorbance and CD — useful for distinguishing real CD signal from scattering/absorbance artifacts

• Global thermodynamic analysis: derives melting points and enthalpies from multiwavelength, thermal data
